Ponga versus Punga
Ponga is a New Zealand native tree fern. The Latin name for our ponga logs is Dicksonia squarrosa, also known as Brown Tree Fern or Ponga. Ponga is a Maori word that is frequently mispronounced and mispelt as punga.
